Problems with sign in on Windows XP

An error occurred on the server, due to which the users cannot log in on Skype for Windows XP. Trying to sign in to Skype, a blank white screen appears, or the loading circle is constantly spinning. Apparently, authorization through Facebook is working properly. Also, users who have enabled automatic authorization do not experience any problems (although the Skype Home page is unavailable). On the official website developers said that they knew about the bug and were working on fixing it.

Number of users confirming this error: ???

If you cannot log in via Facebook, as a workaround, use Skype for browser (though, under Windows XP only chat works, but you cannot make calls).

Thanks to our reader, I learned about one solution — you need to create a shortcut and prescribe the following path:
"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /username:skype_login /password:skype_password

Chronicle of events:

  • Error formally confirmed

  • The issue has been resolved.

XP: Skype Ver 7.36 at first did work, but then it only shows the first account login page, and a blank page where the password should be requested.
I tried also other versions, but no way.
    Hope a fix or something
    thanks Enri

C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /username:skype_login /password:skype_password this fixed the issue for me. The only thing I had to do different was to locate my Skype folder (give it it's full path) and add /password:skype_password after it.

Thank you so much, I've been trying to log on for the last 2 days.

    Very much appreciated.

Yeah it works after 3 days with no access but i did have to update to the 7.37 version. 7.39 doesn't work on my system. Strange thing is my access with the checker in IE8 still shows the secure login services as blocked

    Thanks for the info

Please note that at this moment 7.36.0.150 is the latest version of Skype for Windows XP.

        Andre (karma: +3),
ver 7.36.0.150 installs but does NOT work, on XP PC with good internet connection. What MS did with Skype is a crime. What can be done? Earlier version connected.
